Assisting students achieve their best using proven methods tailored for the individual

GCSE and A - level: Welcome

Exam preparation and confidence building

Students aiming to gain a "grade 9" (or A* at A-level) usually face common problems such as not understanding exactly what the question means, or maybe they make unnecessary mistakes. Other times it maybe a lack of a clear outline of the syllabus, which results in not focusing on the more important material. I always work with students to improve their conceptional thinking - this vastly improves understanding and helps with tackling the harder questions. If a student is making too many "unforced errors" then I enforce a very systematic way of answering questions - this forces good technique and helps develop good habits to avoid mistakes. Within six months students can see their grades improving and becoming consistently better.

Remedial help

Students who have struggled with maths for whatever reason and want to achieve a solid "grade 6+" usually have little motivation and find the learning process frustrating. This is common with maths - in order to understand any particular topic the previous ones must be mastered. With these students I gently encourage a "back to fundamentals" and build from bottom up. This greatly improves confidence and is far more rewarding. This process develops consistency and improves exam results.

Group lessons

Group sessions can be a great way of working through problems with other similarly able students whilst also benefiting from receiving one-to-one help whenever required. Students who have group sessions remark how working with other people enhances the learning experience. It develops teamwork and engages the slightly more hesitant students and develops confidence.

Price : £25per hour. Minimum group size 2.
